A guide for law firms on Scorpion

Leaving Scorpion: what your firm keeps, and when

Scorpion's contract terms haven't been on its website since mid-2023. We read the last public copy, the FAQ it publishes today and its own replies to complaints, so you know your dates and what to ask for before you give notice.

Your dates

When are your files yours, and when is notice due?

Enter the start date on your sales order. The math follows Scorpion's 2023 terms: monthly payments from the start date, files after 24 payments from launch, 12-month renewals, and notice 30 days before a term ends.

Not sure? We'll assume 7 weeks after the start.

The public record

What Scorpion has put in writing, and when

Scorpion's terms were public until June 2023. Its FAQ about leaving was first archived in June 2025. In between, the Internet Archive holds neither.

  1. Sep 2022 – Jun 2023

The terms: files after 24 payments

The website files became the firm's after 24 monthly payments from launch, or for a one-time $10,000. The platform renewed for 12 months unless either side gave written notice 30 days before the term ended.

  2. Since Jun 2023

    The terms come down

By June 10, 2023 the terms page redirected elsewhere. On October 28, 2026 the address showed Scorpion's 404 page, and the site's footer linked no terms.

  3. Jun 2025 – today

The FAQ: yours after the contract

Scorpion's answer: you own your website after the length of your contract is complete. The underlying system stays with Scorpion, so another vendor has to rebuild the site.

  4. May 2025 – Oct 2026

    Scorpion's own replies

Hosting ends with the contract, with a free extra month offered. Website files go out with written instructions. Ad accounts and credits go through a separation agreement.

Your exit plan

Start three months before your term ends

Most of the work is getting answers in writing and your accounts in your firm's name. None of it cancels anything until you give notice.

  1. 90 days out

    Ask for your dates

Send the request on this page. You want your term dates, your launch date and a list of the accounts Scorpion manages for you, in writing.

  2. The same week

Put your accounts in your firm's name

Make your firm the Primary Owner of your Google Business Profile, and an administrator of Analytics, Search Console and Google Ads. Move your domain into an account you control.

  3. 60 days out

    Start the new site

Whoever rebuilds it needs a list of every page address, phone number and form on your site. The addresses stay; the numbers and forms get replaced.

  4. 45 days out

    Give written notice

The 2023 terms took notice by email to legal@scorpion.co and management@scorpion.co, at least 30 days before the term ends. Check your order, and keep the confirmation.

  5. The last month

    Approve, then switch

Check the new site page by page, then point your domain at it. Expect Scorpion's separation agreement for ad accounts and leftover ad credit.

  6. The month after

    Watch for broken links

Check Search Console for pages not found, and update your phone number in directories that still show a tracking number.

The request to send first

Copy it, fill in the brackets, and send it to your account manager. It asks for facts. It doesn't give notice.

Subject: Our contract dates and accounts

Hi [name],

As we plan next year, could you confirm a few things in writing?

1. Our current platform term: its start date, its end date, and whether it renews.
2. The date our website launched, how many monthly payments we've made since then, and the date our website files become ours.
3. What it would cost to receive the website files before that date.
4. Who is listed as the registrant of [our domain], and which account it's registered in.
5. Each Google and social account you manage for us (Business Profile, Analytics, Search Console, Ads, Local Services Ads), and who its primary owner is.
6. Every tracking phone number on our website and in our ads.

Thank you,
[Your name]
[Firm name]

Send it from an address you check, and keep the reply.

Questions

What firms ask before leaving Scorpion

Anything else? Ask us directly. A person will answer.

Do I own my Scorpion website?

Partly, and not right away. Scorpion's FAQ says your website is yours once your contract is complete: the domain, content and images, plus the site's static files and design assets. The system it runs on stays with Scorpion, so the site has to be rebuilt somewhere else. Under Scorpion's 2023 terms, the files became yours after 24 monthly payments from launch, or for $10,000 sooner.

How do I cancel my Scorpion contract?

In writing, before your platform term ends. The 2023 terms took notice by email to legal@scorpion.co and management@scorpion.co at least 30 days before the term ended; without it, the platform renewed for another 12 months. Scorpion's FAQ says advertising services such as Google Ads and Local Services Ads are typically month to month. Your sales order has your dates.

Can I leave before my files are mine?

Yes. The 2023 terms let a firm buy the files for a one-time $10,000 before the 24th payment. Or a new site can be built from what your firm supplied: your own text, photos, logo and colors, at the same addresses. That second way is how we handle it.

Will I lose my Google rankings?

Keep every page at its current address, with the same title and description, and redirect any address that has to change. Rankings can wobble after any move, and nobody can promise them. In the first month, check Search Console for pages not found.

What happens to our phone numbers?

Tracking numbers Scorpion assigned stay with Scorpion under its 2023 terms. Put your firm's own number on the new site, and update every directory listing, ad and card that shows a tracking number.

Can I move my Scorpion site to WordPress?

Yes. Scorpion's FAQ names WordPress and Drupal as options. Either way, someone rebuilds the pages from your files and keeps the addresses. On WordPress you'll also need hosting, and someone to keep its plugins up to date. We rebuild on our own platform instead, with hosting and upkeep in one fixed monthly price.

How much does Scorpion cost?

Scorpion doesn't publish prices; its FAQ says your investment depends on your goals. Scorpion's own case study describes a solo criminal defense firm on a $2,500-a-month marketing budget (archived June 2024). A Florida immigration firm told the Better Business Bureau in September 2026 that it had paid about $75,000 since May 2021. Both figures cover marketing as well as the website.
